Johnson made the trip to Atlanta with his mom and they described the trip as exciting and fun. "We toured the facilities and I had a chance to sit down with three of the coaches and talk with them."

Jalen first met with head Coach Paul Johnson. "He talked about how much he liked me as player." Johnson next met with defensive line coach Mike Pelton. His final talk was with defensive coordinator Ted Roof. "He said that he loved my play so much that he was officially extending me an offer."

Getting to talk face to face with the coaches rather than over the phone or through the mail was special to Jalen. "Georgia Tech was the first school to offer me. I will always remember that."

The coches at Tech like Johnson as a safety. "Coach Roof said I fit the build and style of play for his scheme he is implementing." Coach Johnson also let Jalen know that he likes him as a wide receiver. "I told him that if I came to Georgia Tech, I would play any position he wanted me to play."

Coach Roof invited Jalen back for their spring practices and game. "I want to come back for the spring game and my mom says we are most definitely coming back for it."

Jalen's parents will play a big role in helping him make his college choice. "Mom likes Georgia Tech a lot." Jalen knows the decision is his but he will value their input.

Auburn and Alabama are two schools that Jalen will visit in the future. He may also camp at Florida State. Tennessee has asked him to come up for some spring practices.

Johnson has an early top three,in no particular order, of Georgia Tech, Alabama, and Auburn. "I really like those three schools."

A decision for Jalen will most likely come during or after his senior season. "I hope to have all the offers I will get by then." His relationship with the coaches and distance from home will be factors in his decision. A school that his parents like will also factor into his decision.
