The latest offer for West came from Georgia Tech and Coach Dave Walkosky. West was surprised and excited about the offer. "Coach Walkosky has been at my school and talked with my coach about how much he wants me down in Atlanta. I called him later to talk about it."
West let Walkosky know that he was excited about the offer. Coach Walkosky and the other Tech coaches liked what they saw on film from Darius. "They see me as a running back, wide receiver, or a safety. Coach Wal said they would work that out if I came to Georgia Tech and it was a good thing to work out."
While he has the opportunity to play multiple positions, Darius prefers playing safety. His preference won't be a factor in his decision. "I'll play wherever they want me to play."
A trip to Atlanta is in the works for West. He's been invited to attend Junior Day, spring practices, and the spring game. "I will have to work around my track schedule."
West has a list of things about Tech that are appealing to him. "I know they play for ACC championships, they have great academics, they have a long bowl streak, and they put a lot of players in the NFL." The coaching staff at Tech and the city of Atlanta are also pluses for West.
When it comes time to make his decision, Darius will be looking for a winning program. He will also be taking a close look at his relationship with the coaching staff.
Look for Darius to make his decision before the start of his senior season or after the season. "I don't see me making a decision in the middle of season."
