Tre Jackson Values Tech Education

Lowndes County, Georgia middle linebacker Tre Jackson was a recent linebacker MVP at the Valdosta MVP Camp. Following the camp, Tre received his first offer from Georgia Tech. Today he completed the cycle by giving his verbal commit to Tech.

Tre called Coach Paul Johnson to let him know he wanted to commit to Georgia Tech. "I wanted to earlier but I wanted to talk it over with my family and to be sure. Once I did that, I knew I was going to go to Georgia Tech."

Jackson was attracted to both the academics and the football program at Tech. "I'm 5'11" and might not be a NFL player down the road. However, down the road when people see that Georgia Tech degree, they'll know it means something and they'll know I worked my butt off to get it." Jackson knows that a degree from Tech will open doors and he values it highly.

Tre hopes to major in sports medicine. "The coaches told me that I can take some courses either at Emory or Georgia State and get that degree in the end." Jackson likes that Tech has added a sports management degree and hopes that the sports medicine degree won't be far behind.

The primary recruiter for Jackson was Coach Andy McCollum. He was happy to hear that Tre was committing. "He put me on the phone with Coach (Ted) Roof and you could tell he was excited about me coming there." Coach Roof feels Jackson will fit in just fine at middle linebacker.

If Tre gets calls from other schools, he'll be telling them no thanks. "I am not interested in any school but Georgia Tech. Coach Johnson took a chance on me and is 100% committed to me and I am 100% committed to him." Top Stories
