McCain Not Ready to Name Favorites

Hillside High School Durham, North Carolina defensive back Kalen McCain is starting to draw interest from schools around the southeast. McCain received his fifth offer Thursday from Virginia Tech.

In addition to the latest offer from Virginia Tech, McCain has received offers from Louisville, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech and Appalachian State.

Kalen has already visited two of those schools. "I have been to North Carolina State and I went down to Georgia Tech for their Junior Day earlier this month."

The trip to Georgia Tech was a good one for Kalen. "Georgia Tech is a great place." McCain liked that Tech was in the city and that they had a nice campus. "North Carolina is off the highway some and is like a small town of its own."

McCain has been in contact with his former teammate and current Tech quarterback Vad Lee. "He says the school is great and the environment is a great." Lee let McCain know that Georgia Tech is a great place to be.

The visit to Georgia Tech put them on Kalen's list of schools that he'll be showing interest. "They are looking for defensive backs and they said I am high on their list." McCain will not name a favorites list until he takes more visits.

Kalen will be visiting Louisville April 5th and he hopes to visit Virginia Tech on the 6th. "If I can't, I might go to their spring game on the 20th of April."

A return visit to Georgia Tech is also a possibility. "I don't have anything definite but I do know I want to make a return trip."

Kalen is not in a rush to make his college choice. He will most likely make that decision right before signing day. McCain will be looking at playing time, the fan base, the environment, and the stability of the coaching staff in making that decision. Top Stories
