Gooden Gets His First Offer

Talladega High School (AL) defensive end Ahmad Gooden made a recent visit to Georgia Tech for their spring game. Since his visit to the game, Gooden has kept in touch with Tech defensive line coach Mike Pelton.

Gooden enjoyed his time at the spring game and liked what he saw from both the offense and defense. "I liked that the offense made big plays and the defense was aggressive and also played well." Ahmad paid special attention to the defensive line. "I feel I could be a part of the defensive line rotation at Georgia Tech."

The visit to Tech and further conversations with Coach Pelton led to an offer for Gooden. "I spoke with Coach Pelton and he said that he liked me very much and felt I could be a great addition to the Georgia Tech team." Ahmad was offered during those talks. "This offer is special. It was my first offer."

"I was real excited about the offer and thanked Coach Pelton for believing in me and extending the offer. This offer is very special to me." Having offered first, Gooden knows that Tech will be a part of his recruitment until the end.

"They are a school that I like a lot." Gooden feels that Tech would be a good fit for him both athletically and academically.

Ole Miss, Missouri, Middle Tennessee State, and Harvard are some of the other schools recruiting Ahmad. "I'd like to visit Auburn, Harvard, and maybe Florida State this summer.

Gooden also expects to get some visits from those schools when his spring practice begins. "Coach Pelton told me he would be coming by to see me practice."

Ahmad is not in a hurry to make a decision. "I feel like I should wait to see what other teams might offer and compare all of them."

Location will be an important factor when it comes time for Gooden to make his decision. "I want a school that is fairly close to home." Academics will be a factor for Gooden. "Ideally I'd like to major in architecture in college. I value my academics a lot." Gooden will also be looking for a school that has a chance to play for titles. Top Stories
