Murphy Looking at Academic Schools

Friendly High School (MD) corner Alameen Murphy received a lot of attention during the evaluation period. Murphy will be heading south to Atlanta to visit one of those schools for their summer camp.

"I am coming down to the Georgia Tech camp being held on the 9th of June." This will be Murphy's first trip to Tech. He and his mom will also be touring the campus. "I want to see the campus set up and the facilities I have heard so much about."

Murphy has been keeping in touch with Tech Coach Ted Roof. Alameen has also talked with Coach Joe Speed who would be his position coach. "I really like both of them and they represent Georgia Tech very well."

Georgia Tech is a school that Murphy has been thinking about. "I like Georgia Tech a lot and they are one of the schools that is at the top my list." Murphy wants to visit other schools, for a comparison, before he makes a decision.

Vanderbilt, Stanford, and Wake Forest will be the three schools Murphy will visit after his trip to Georgia Tech. "There are some others out there I want to visit but these are ones that come to mind right now."

One thing is evident. Murphy is looking at strong academic schools. "Football will get me a scholarship, but I value my education greatly." Alameen will also be looking at player coach relationships and how well they develop their players.

Alameen is unable to name any school that is recruiting him harder than another. "All the schools that have offered are really recruiting me hard."

Murphy hopes to make a decision on his college choice before the start of his senior season. "If I need to put it off some, I will. The time frame isn't set in stone." Top Stories
