Searcy Confirms What He Already Felt

Lamar County athlete Qua Searcy saw teammates Lance Austin and Lawrence Austin commit to Georgia Tech earlier this week. Qua had already planned on visiting Georgia Tech this week. Today he had even more of a reason for visiting.

"The visit just confirmed what I already felt. I wanted to be a Yellow Jacket so I committed to Coach (Paul) Johnson and his staff." Coach Johnson was excited to get the verbal commit from Searcy. Qua also spoke with Coach Lamar Owens and Coach Joe Speed. "Both of them were super excited to have me commit."

Searcy is capable of playing multiple positions but the coaches at Tech had one position in mind. "They recruited me to play wide receiver when I get up there. There is also a chance that Qua could get a look at corner or safety.

Qua doesn't have a preference when it comes to what position to play. "I don't care where they put me. I just want to get on the field and help my new team win games."

The commit earlier this week of the Austin twins may have helped Qua make his decision. "It did. It will be nice to have some current teammates as teammates at Georgia Tech."

Qua made the trip to Atlanta with his mom and dad. "They were really excited to hear me commit to Coach Johnson. They said they would rather have me at Georgia Tech than anywhere else. They really liked it up there that much."

Now that he's made his decision, Qua will call the coaches at South Carolina, Wake Forest, Louisville, North Carolina State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Ole Miss and to let them know he is done with recruiting and committed to Georgia Tech. "Now I can sit back and enjoy my senior year." Top Stories
