Many times when recruits camp at a school that has offered, they don't participate in the camp. That wasn't true Sunday when Bradenton, Florida offensive lineman Jake Stickler camped at Georgia Tech. Stickler participated and mixed it up with the other linemen at camp.
The Bradenton recruit weighed in at 266 at the camp but plans on playing at 290 this coming season. Stickler made the trip to Atlanta on Saturday and had a chance to tour the campus before taking part in the camp on Sunday.
Jake toured the campus with Tech offensive line Coach Mike Sewak. "I was really impressed because it was like a college town inside a big city." Jake wasn't aware that this was the case until he made the trip to Atlanta. "It felt secluded from the city and I was impressed with that." Another highlight of the tour for Stickler was getting to see the football facilities.
Following his trip to Tech, Jake plans to either visit Florida State's three day camp or he'll be heading home. An offensive line camp is also in the works for Stickler. "I'm also visiting LSU on the 20th and Missouri on the 23rd."
Jake now has 11 offers and he's getting closer to making a decision. Right now his top three are Georgia Tech, Baylor, and Missouri. The plans right now are for Jake to make his college choice before the start of his senior season.
When Jake makes that decision, education will be a primary factor. "I'm looking for a place that when I'm done with football, I'll have a solid background that I can go into life with."
When asked if he plans to return to Tech before making his decision, Jake responded, "Absolutely".
