Lewis and his family made the trip to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Fan Day. "It was a trip we wanted to make as I had a very good feeling about Georgia Tech." Lewis felt that the other schools recruiting him didn't give him what he would get from Tech. "I decided to go ahead and give the coaches my commitment."
Georgia Tech's rich history of championships was one of the factors in Terrell's decision. "I hope with the recruits we have coming in and the players there now we can get Georgia Tech back to that level."
"No other school could give me the education that Georgia Tech can. They have great engineering programs but I can also get my major in Business Communication. I know they have great access to some major communication companies. That was a big plus."
In the times that he has visited Tech, Terrell had developed a relationship with the coaches. That was a plus in making his decision. "It made me feel more at ease at Georgia Tech."
LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Iowa State and Syracuse were some of the other schools that were recruiting Lewis hard. Terrell felt that some of those schools had some things better than Tech but Tech had a lot of things better than those schools. "Overall none of them could give me everything like Georgia Tech could and that was special."
Lewis talked with Tech defensive coordinator Ted Roof to talk about his position. "He told me he wanted me as an outside linebacker or SAM linebacker. The position will give me some opportunities to drop back as a safety."
The decision to choose Tech was a popular one with Terrell's parents. "They love it and that had some impact on my decision as well. Both my parents love Georgia tech and what I can get from the school and they also love the area. They will be able to drive up and watch me play my home games and that is important."
