Shaker Heights (OH) offensive tackle Ja'Merez Bowen is a three-star prospect with several offers. He had a quiet summer that did not include any visits, but he attended a few camps.

With the regular season in full swing now, Bowen is only concentrated on his team.

"I'm trying to improve my footwork on the offensive side of the ball," said Bowen. "On defense, I'd like to get quicker off the ball. I'm really just focused on the season so we can take the seniors to the playoffs this year. I want to just concentrate on my grades and my team for the near future."

Since recruiting is in the rear view mirror, the three-star prospect from Ohio hasn't directed too much attention towards it lately. However, he has spoke with one school since the new contact period began.

"The only school I've talked to in the last few days is really Georgia Tech," Bowen told Scout. "I have a really strong relationship with them and we're close. They want me to come down for a visit. They think I can battle for a starting spot right away."

With his high school team and his season his main focus, Bowen will wait until after the season to take his official visits. He has two in mind.

"I know two of my official visits will be to Georgia Tech and Cincinnati," he noted. "I might take a few others. It will depend on how things shake out."

He spoke about what he likes about the Yellow Jackets.

"The Georgia Tech coaches are also always willing to help me out and be there to talk to," Bowen explained. "I have family down in Georgia so I'm not completely a stranger to them at all. It is a really good school for academics and that is something you'll always need."

The Bearcats are a school Bowen knows a lot about as well and he has a strong bond with their coaches.

"I really like the Cincinnati coaching staff and they reach out to me and are there for me too," he said. "If I ever need someone to talk to, they're there. I have someone I'm really close to that goes to Cincinnati and he just tells me that they take care of their players and I like that a lot about them." Top Stories
