Gilmore Sets Visit to Georgia Tech

James Rickards High School (Tallahassee, Florida) power forward Michael Gilmore is winding down his recruitment. The four star recruit has taken one official visit and has two more official visits planned for September.

Profile - Michael Gilmore

Gilmore is looking for a school where he can trust the coaching staff. "I want a staff that will make me a better player by improving all phases of my game. I also want the staff to be honest and up front with me."

Another factor that will have a huge impact with Gilmore is playing time. "I'd like to come in and get as much time as I can." Michael feels that he can make an impact as a freshman and wants to go to a school that needs players at his position.

Michael will also be looking at the school's conference affiliation. I'd love to play in a top conference and play on a team that will make noise in the NCAA tourney." Distance from home will be somewhat of a factor. "I'd like to be fairly close to home." Gilmore lives with his uncle in Tallahasse and his parents live in Jacksonville.

His ability to play the three or the four and his ball handling skills are a few things that Gilmore feels will enable him to play as a freshman. "I have a real good touch on my outside shot and I can create a mismatch at the three with my height." Michael can also create a mismatch at the four with his ball handling skills.

Don't look for Michael to be a one and done player. "I want to stay in school to hone my game, get stronger, and be NBA ready when I do leave college." Michael sees himself staying at least three years.

Gilmore's lone official visit thus far has been to Kansas State. Michael enjoyed his time on the visit. This coming weekend Michael will be visiting VCU. "The coaches there are great and I get along with them."

On the 28th, Gilmore will be traveling to Atlanta to visit Georgia Tech. "I've talked to the assistants there and they tell me they are losing a lot of minutes at the positions I could play and that intrigues me greatly." Gilmore knows that Georgia Tech puts players in the league and arguably plays in the best conference. He feels that is a plus. "I am looking forward to that visit."

Michael is not sure if he'll take his final two visits. "To be honest, these three teams could be the only visits I take and I know I will be picking a great team from those three."

Look for Michael to have a decision sometime in October and sign during the early signing period in November. Top Stories
