Edwards returns to GT

2015 safety Ben Edwards visited Georgia Tech in the spring and returned for his second stop in Atlanta last weekend as they hosted North Carolina.

2015 Jacksonville (FL) Trinity Christian safety Ben Edwards listed a top three of Auburn, North Carolina, and Georgia Tech before his visits to see the Tigers and Yellow Jackets.

He maintains that top three with a visit to North Carolina on the docket next. Last weekend he was in Atlanta for Georgia Tech's showdown with the Tar Heels.

"It was a great time," said Edwards. "I took a tour of the campus and really liked their facilities. I got to talk a lot to their coaches and they like me a lot. Overall it was a real good visit and I'd give it a ‘B'. I had been to Georgia Tech before so it was my second visit and I had seen some of the stuff already previously."

The relationship and the time he spent with the coaching staff stood out to Edwards on his trip.

"I really liked the love the Georgia Tech coaches showed me," he explained. "Coach (Lamar) Owens was real cool. They like me as a player and a person. My film was what impressed them."

Both teams that faced off on Saturday were among Edwards' top three. Despite his admiration for both programs, Edwards was glad the Yellow Jackets were able to pull off the victory.

"Georgia Tech was down but they came back and won," he mentioned. "They played good and I liked the style of defense they played in the second half. I like both teams and all so I wasn't particularly pulling for either one of them to win. They're both real good programs but I was glad to see that Georgia Tech got the win at home. They can beat Virginia Tech next week, too."

The next trip Edwards will take this season will be later on in October to Chapel Hill to see the Tar Hells host Virginia.
