Brian made the trip to Atlanta Saturday for the Georgia Tech-Pitt game and liked what he saw. "Man it was great. I had a fantastic time."
Meeting with the Tech coaches was one of the many things Brian was able to do on the visit. "I got a chance to talk with my recruiting coach, Coach (Brian) Cook, my position coach, Coach (Mike) Sewak, and Coach (Paul) Johnson."
Chaffin also spent time with Tech commit Will Bryan. Brian knew Will from camps they had attended together. Will talked to Brian about how great it would be for them to play together at Tech. "I know his family were Georgia supporters but seeing them decked in Georgia Tech gear was great."
Bryan let Chaffin know that he and his family had researched Georgia Tech and fell in love with it. "That was a great gesture by the coaches to put us together. I really liked what he had to say."
Chaffin was impressed with the way the fans supported their team. "The atmosphere they created before and during the game was the best thing to me." Brian was also impressed by the view from watching a night game in downtown Atlanta.
A return visit to Tech will be in the works to see more of the campus and to talk to the academic people. "Academics is very important to me and I want to get to know all that Georgia Tech has to offer."
Mississippi State and UNC-Charlotte are two schools that have extended offers to Chaffin. Other schools showing interest include North Carolina, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Duke, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Auburn, and Georgia.
Georgia Tech has requested Chaffin's transcripts and an offer could be coming soon. Chaffin has a 4.0 GPA. "I know that Georgia Tech clears their recruits academically first before they offer so to me that is a very good sign they will be offering me."
Kentucky will be the next visit for Brian. Chaffin also plans to visit other schools that are showing him interest. I'd like to show them the same respect they have shown me."
When it comes time to make his college choice, Brian will first consider academics. "I know a lot of recruits say academics but that is what I will consider first." Brian will also be looking at the environment between the players and coaches. "Finally, I want to go to a school that I can come in and compete for playing time as fast as I can and one that has a winning tradition."
