Montvale, New Jersey offensive lineman Tommy Hatton is making his mark and his name known with aggressive and hard play this season. Hatton talked to GoJackets about his recruitment and visit plans once his junior season is over.
Seven schools have offered Tommy thus far. The list includes Rutgers, UConn, Boston College, UMass, Indiana, Duke, and Temple. Hatton is also receiving interest from other schools. " Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Miami, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, and South Carolina are ones that I feel are very close to offering me." Hatton is receiving a lot of major interest from those schools.
Georgia Tech Coach Bryan Cook has stayed in touch with Hatton. "I absolutely love him. He stays in contact with me and wants me to come down there to see them." Hatton feels an offer will come if he makes the trip to Atlanta to visit Tech. "I feel that I might even get one before I go on a visit."
Tommy and his dad are going down to Georgia for a visit and we will first go to Georgia Tech and then drive to Athens to visit Georgia while we are there." Hatton is also expecting a visit from Tech in December. "It is great to know that they are very interested in me." Hatton's former teammate Ricky Jeune is currently playing for Tech. "He has great things to say about them and I am anxious to get to their campus and see everything."
One of the things Georgia Tech likes about Hatton is his tenacity. "I'm the type of player that will do what it takes to destroy my opponent and not let him get the best of me. Coach Cook says that is the type of player that Georgia Tech is looking for when recruiting offensive linemen."
Hatton feels he is being overlooked by some schools because of his height. "They are failing to see my results on the field. I am not trying to sound cocky but I have the confidence in my play and my coaches say my results show that I am a player that will make a great lineman at a major school."
Some new schools have recently entered the picture in Hatton's recruitment. Duke recently offered Hatton and South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Miami, Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, and Ohio State are now recruiting Tommy.
