Bowen Plans Official Visit

Shaker Heights (OH) three-star recruit Ja'Merez Bowen was focused on his season and had not focused too much on recruiting. With his senior campaign in the books Bowen has diverted some of his attention back to some of the colleges that have expressed interest.

He had been looked at as a prospect on the offensive side of the ball but he's now hearing different pitches from the schools involved. Bowen now expects to play defense at the next level.

"I'm being recruited as a defensive tackle now," he pointed out. "I'd rather play defense so it's something I've enjoyed hearing."

Bowen recently took an official visit to Cincinnati.

It was a cool trip," he said. "Everything was good there. I liked the academics. The food was good too and they are a better team than I thought."

The Ohio senior has a few other trips he hopes to take.

"I want to make visits to Georgia Tech, Washington State, West Virginia, Kentucky," Bowen mentioned. "I'm visiting Georgia Tech the weekend of January 17. I need to call West Virginia and Washington State to set up a date. I'll probably visit Kentucky sometime in January."

Bowen admits that he stays in contact with Georgia Tech quite a bit.

"I talk to them a lot," he said of the Yellow Jackets. "Coach Walkosky talks to me. He's a real cool dude. He's been by my school before but not recently. He asks about my grades and tells me he wants me to check them out."

Scout.com will continue to have the latest on Ja'Merez Bowen and update his recruitment as warranted.
