Excitement From Simmons

Georgia Tech commit Antonio Simmons is looking forward to the opportunity of playing early for the Jackets. He's got a plan to be ready when he arrives on campus.

Jacksonville (FL) University Christian defensive end Antonio Simmons committed to Georgia Tech in early November. The Yellow Jackets recruited Simmons to be an edge pass rusher in Ted Roof's defense.

Simmons is looking forward to his chances of playing early.

"I"m so excited to get up to Georgia Tech," said Simmons. "I'm ready to be up there and work hard. I have an opportunity to play right away. Bot defensive ends are leaving so the opportunity is the re to compete for early playing time."

The three-star defensive end isn't among the early enrollees at Georgia Tech but he has a plan to be prepared once he arrives in Atlanta over the summer.

"I wanted to get up there and play in the spring but couldn't," Simmons informed Scout. "I wanted to get a head start. I'll be working out with a trainer though so I can come ready to perform."

Simmons will be on the Yellow Jackets' campus very soon as he completes his official visit to the school.

"My official visit is from January 17-19," he noted. "I'm looking forward to seeing the campus. I want to have fun and hang out with the players. It'll be great to see everything and to see everyone, and meet new people."

The 6-foot-4, 215 pound lineman remains solidly committed to Georgia Tech.

"I"m 100% in my commitment," Simmons said enthusiastically. "I'm all Georgia Tech. I have a great connection with Coach Roof and I've always gotten along with Coach Owens. This is the best place for me."
