Today Clinton was told to call Georgia Tech Coach Roof. When he did, Coach Roof offered Clinton a scholarship and Clinton committed over the phone. It was his dream answered.
The call came at 10 am. When he called Coach Roof, Lynch was told that he was about to get some good news. "He said he would like for me to come on over and become a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket. He was offering me a scholarship. I accepted right away." This evening Lynch was still getting used to what happened over the phone. "It was and is a truly amazing feeling to be able to go play football for Georgia Tech."
Coach Roof stayed in constant contact with Lynch all along. "He has been very up front with me and told me that he staff really liked what they saw in me but were in a crunch scholarship wise." Once a scholarship came open, Lynch grabbed it.
Clinton was not the first to know about the offer. Coach Roof had earlier talked to his mom and got her blessing. "She was very happy to know I will be going to Georgia Tech." Going to a major program and being close to home is exactly what they both wanted. "It is the perfect set up for me."
Tech will try Lynch at both receiver and A Back. "In high school I play wide receiver and slot so it isn't that much difference. At 5' 11"- 180 and running a 4.45 forty, Clinton feels he can contribute right away. "I am very confident in my abilities and feel that I can come in and show that I can contribute as a freshman. I am always ready to do what is asked of me."
Clinton said the coaches at Georgia State have been informed of his switch. While i was talking with Coach Roof, my head coach called the coaches at Georgia State and broke the news to them."
