Tyler grew up around Tech with his dad having played there. "It is always good to go down there and see the school. I have a lot of good memories from Tech. However, on this trip I did learn some things that I didn't know."
Current Tech players Jamal Golden and Zack Laskey spoke to Cooksey and the recruits about what it was like to be a student-athlete. "I got to know the coaches and how they coach and got to see a lot of the facilities up front. I really loved the weight room. It is first class." Tyler enjoyed getting to see what goes on behind the scenes.
Cooksey spent time with linebacker coach Andy McCollum and defensive line coach Mike Pelton. "They feel that I could be a very good linebacker or bulk up to about 260 and be a down lineman." Tyler is currently 6'3"-230. "I kind of like the notion. It gives me some options."
In addition to receiving an offer from Tech, Tyler also recently received an offer from Tennessee. " They were the first SEC school to offer and brought my total to six for the year."
Cooksey likes Tech a lot but feels he owes it to himself to look at all the schools interested in him. "I want to got to a school that I feel comfortable with since I am the one that will be there for the next four years. My dad is behind me all the way even though I know he would love for me to go to Tech."
Visits to North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State are in the plans for Tyler. "I will also visit Tennessee, Northwestern, and make a return trip to Georgia Tech." Tyler will be returning to Tech for their spring game.
Tyler hopes to make a decision before the start of his senior season. "Once I get some visits in and get a feel for the school, campus life, and the players, then I will make my decision."
