Williams had a successful camp winning the kickoff portion of the competition and coming in second overall. Josh's longest field goal was 52 yards. "I thought I had a very good showing at his camp." Prior to attending the camp, Williams had been talking to Georgia Tech and they had talked about visiting. "I am very interested in them. They are a very prestigious school academically and are also one of the top teams in the ACC year in and year out."
When he arrived on campus, Williams met with special teams coach Dave Walkosky. "He told me that Georgia Tech is interested in me." Tech has been watching Williams and they are impressed with his leg strength. "The coaches would like me to be a member of the team."
Tech is not extending an offer at the present time as their scholarship kicker is only a sophomore at this time. "Coach Walkosky said they would stay in contact with me and I told them I would stay in contact with them as well." Williams feels that Tech will ask him to be a preferred walk-on at some point in his recruitment.
Being a preferred walk-on is something that Williams is seriously considering. "I would take that option if my parents and I thought it was the best thing for me." Williams is ranked third in his class and could fill the scholarship void with academic scholarships. "Georgia Tech is definitely a team that will be high in my recruiting picture."
Academics will be one of the deciding factors in Josh's college decision. "I am still hoping to get a scholarship to good academic school. I'd have to weigh my options on whether to walk on to a school or take a scholarship."
Texas A&M is one school that Josh would have a hard time turning down. " My brother is a freshman there now and my dad went there as well. It is close to home and I like what they have to offer academically."
