Eagles Landing Christian (GA) outside linebacker Nick Dawson made the short trip to Atlanta today to visit Georgia Tech. Dawson made the trip to the Tech campus with his parents.
Nick and his parents both loved the visit. "My mom and dad really loved meeting and talking with both Coach (Joe) Speed and Coach (Paul) Johnson." Nick and Coach Speed have built up a good relationship since Tech started recruiting him. "I feel that he is the one coach at any school that I get along with the best. He has definitely made an impression on my family as well as me."
The coaches talked to Nick about how he would fit into their defensive plans. "I would be used at outside linebacker and also like they used Jeremiah Attachou at rush end. I really like the plans they have mapped out for me." At 6'3"-230 pounds, Nick feels it fits his skill set. "I feel I can handle either position equally well."
Dawson would like to work in the communications field. "Coach Speed pointed out that with CNN and Turner right there at Georgia Tech there are many opportunities for internships and jobs." The communications opportunities that Georgia Tech is now able to offer is a plus in Dawson's eyes.
Nick and his parents enjoyed the time they were able to spend with Coach Johnson. "You could tell that he has the best interests of his players at heart."
The other thing that stood out on the visit was the campus. It's very nice. It's one of the better ones I've seen."
Dawson plans to return to Tech for either a practice or for the spring game. "I'm also coming back for a track meet to be held at Georgia Tech too."
A favorites list has not been named by Dawson but he did say that Tech is one of his favorites. "I am not ready to make public which schools I like the best but I can say Tech will be up there."
Nick plans to make a summer decision. "I want to get in as many visits as I can before I make a decision."
