We talked to Scotland County (NC) quarterback Jaylend Ratliffe right after his visit to Georgia Tech. He let us know that he was close to making a decision. Later that evening, Jaylend decided not to wait and he gave his commitment to Georgia Tech.
Jaylend knew when he was visiting yesterday that Tech was where he wanted to be. " When I was at the Georgia Tech game against Georgia I fell in love with Tech." Jaylend wanted to make the return visit to see if he still felt the same way. "The whole time we were there I knew Georgia Tech was the place for me."
The visit to the Georgia Tech bookstore, before they left campus, sealed the deal. "I walked up to my mom and told her that I was going to commit. She had a Georgia Tech Mom license tag in her hand. It was like it was meant to be for me to come here."
Jaylend called Coach Bryan Cook last night and told him he wanted to be a Yellow Jacket. "He was very happy and said he would be looking forward to working with me at quarterback. We both were very excited talking about our future at Georgia Tech."
Jaylend is happy to have his recruitment completed. "I am 100% committed to Georgia Tech. I gave them my word." Jaylend feels his commitment is like a marriage. Once your married, you don't entertain another girl to see if she is better. When asked what would happen if another school tried to talk him into changing his mind, Jaylend replied, "That won't happen, I am a Yellow Jacket."
Jaylend had outstanding stats last year at Scotland HS. But that didn't mean anything to him because they didn't win the state championship. "My stats didn't mean anything to me because we didn't win our state championship, that is what you strive for to be a winner not to have just good stats. My goal at Georgia Tech is winning championships."
