Alexander High School(GA) running back Mikell Lands-Davis is seeing some new schools coming hard after him. Friday Lands-Davis was in Atlanta to visit one of his favorites.
The GT coaching staff didn't waste any time in pulling Mikell aside when he arrived on campus. "Coach Johnson showed me that I was his number one recruit on his recruiting board for the B-Back position." Coach Johnson let Lands-Davis know that he would love for him to commit if he was ready. "He has always told me that he really wants me at Georgia Tech and for me to call him as soon as I ready to commit to Georgia Tech." Mikell likes that approach.
Mikell also talked to the other coaches as well as the team chaplain Derrick Moore. "He is a great guy. I also got to meet Coach Johnson' wife." Mikell liked the attention they gave him.
A decision for Mikell is not in the works at the present time. "I want to visit a few other schools." Lands-Davis plans to visit Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Georgia. Vanderbilt is another school that is trying to get in the picture. "The last time I was there, it was very nice, but they have a new staff now."
Lands-Davis feels that Georgia Tech and Clemson are the two schools that are recruiting him the hardest. "North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Georgia are trying to come on strong."
Georgia is showing late interest and has told Mikell the reason was coaching changes. "I know all the new coaches were on defense but the running back coach did keep in contact with me." Georgia let Mikell know that an offer should be coming. "I do know they have a crowded backfield so we will see."
By the end of spring ball, Lands-Davis hopes to know his favorites. "I do know Georgia Tech is one of the top teams already." Mikell hopes to have a decision by the end of the summer. "If I'm not 100% sure at that time, then I'll most likely be waiting until December before I make a decision."
