Marist (GA) offensive lineman Sage Hardin has seen his recruitment slow down with only one school offering in the last two weeks. However, the schools that have offered him have stayed in close contact with him.
The only offer in the past few weeks for Sage came from Cornell. "The schools that have offered me are still recruiting me hard and we talk as often as we can."
One of those schools is Georgia Tech. "I talk to both Coach (Joe) Speed, my recruiting coach and Coach (Mike) Sewak, my position coach. Both tell me that they absolutely want me there." Marist runs the triple option, as does Tech, and Hardin loves blocking in that system. "Coach Sewak tells me that I am 100% fit for their offense at Georgia Tech."
"I love the school, the program, and I get along with the players and coaches." Tech B Back Matt Connors and several other walk-ons have gone from Marist to Tech. I remember Preston Lyons very well, the run he had against Wake Forest in 2009 is as vivid in my mind as if it happened yesterday. Georgia Tech has a lot going for it in my eyes."
Sage took a break from football on his spring break and traveled to the Dominican Republic rather than taking recruiting visits. Hardin may take some visits now that he is back in Atlanta. "I'll probably go to Stanford and Georgia for camps to see if I get offered."
Sage will be ready to name his top five on May 31st. He already has a good idea on a few schools that will be on that list. "For now, I'd like to keep that to myself and not limit my possible offers until the 31st."
Georgia Tech offensive line commit Will Bryan and Buford offensive lineman Nick Polino keep in touch with each other. "I know Nick likes Georgia Tech a lot." Sage has let Polino know how much he likes that Tech runs the spread option with the triple option as part of it. "We shall see where the three of us end up."
Sage's dad has encouraged him to take as many visits as possible and gather as much information as possible before making a decision. That decision could come by the end of the summer. "The latest my decision will be made is August 1st. However, it could be made as early as mid July."
With Sage's granddad on Georgia Tech's 1952 national championship team and his dad playing one year at Georgia Tech, it will be interesting to see how that helps Georgia Tech in the recruitment of Sage Hardin.
