Profile - David MarshallUpson-Lee sophomore defensive tackle David Marshall has already begun to catch the eye of schools around the South. One of those schools visited Upson-Lee earlier this week to evaluate David.
Auburn and Ole Miss were the first two schools to offer Marshall. "Several other schools have told me that giving me an offer is just a formality." The schools recruiting Marshall feel he can become an impact player.
The schools looking at Marshall like the way he uses his hands to shed blocks and they also like his quickness. "I'd like to get better at stopping the run and even better at using my hands."
Georgia Tech was one of the schools to visit Upson Lee this week. Coach Andy McCollum spent the day evaluating David. "He told my coach he wants me at Georgia Tech but first he wants me to come up for some visits."
Coach McCollum wants Marshall to see the school again and he also wants him to meet the staff. Marshall was also invited to the Tech camp in June.
David knows for sure that he'll be visiting Tech. "Georgia Tech is one school I am interested in for college. They play good football and have excellent academics." David wants to be known for more than just being a good football player.
The last trip to Tech for Marshall was a good one. "The campus is beautiful and it is a good school." David enjoyed seeing the locker room, players lounge, and practice facility. "I also liked the way the weight room is going to look when they get finished."
In addition to visiting Tech, Marshall also plans to visit Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, and a few other schools. "I plan on visiting as many as I can to start my information gathering."
When it comes to selecting a school, David will be looking at the school's defense, how they are coached, and he's looking for a position coach that can help to improve his game. Academics will also play a role in his decision.
