Profile - Cade Carney
Davie County High School (NC) 2016 running back Cade Carney made the trip down I85 last week to visit Georgia Tech. Cade and his dad were hosted by Georgia Tech Coach Bryan Cook.
The visit was much different than Cade and his dad expected. "My dad and I came away very impressed with the school, the campus, and the city of Atlanta."
Carney went into the visit thinking Tech would be an urban type campus. "The campus is beautiful." Cade was also impressed with the football facilities and were able to meet some of the players. "We both were glad that we went."
Coach Cook had previously made two visits to Davie County and had invited Cade to visit so that he could get to know the staff and the school. "He said the visit would be beneficial to see what Georgia Tech is all about."
The academic side of things was also part of the visit for Cade. Carney was impressed with Tech's academic standing. "My family really values academics."
Following the campus tour, Cade and his dad met with Coach Cook and Coach Paul Johnson. Coach Cook let Cade know that they wanted him as a B Back in their offense. "We talked with Coach Johnson for quite a while and then he extended an offer to me. That was a great feeling."
Academics, the football program, and how he fits in their system are all things Cade will be looking at when he makes his decision. "I want to go to a school where I really feel comfortable and have a good relationship with the coaches and my teammates."
Cade feels that the schools that have offered him are the ones recruiting him the hardest. He has offers from Georgia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Wake Forest. Carney doesn't have a favorite at this time.
Currently the 5' 11" and 190 pound Carney hopes to have made his college choice by this time next year.
