Profile - Harland Howell
Wheeler High School (GA) receiver Harland Howell made the short trip to Georgia Tech Monday to get better acquainted with the program and coaches. The trip confirmed to Howell that Georgia Tech was where he wanted to be.
Harland felt that everything fell in place when he got on campus. "I
was talking to Coach (Paul) Johnson and told him I was ending my recruitment and committing to Georgia Tech. I really wanted him be the one I told." The decision put a big smile on Coach Johnson's face. "He welcomed me to the Georgia Tech family and told me I made a great decision."
Howell has always felt that Tech was a great place to be. Harland saw that Tech was building a strong recruiting class and wanted to be a part of that class. "The spots at my position were filling up so I wanted to make sure I had my spot on the team."
Harland's parents and girlfriend also made the trip to Tech. "They are just as happy as I am about my decision. They feel this is the best decision for me and are backing me 100%. That makes this decision even sweeter to me."
If other schools continue to contact Harland, he will thank them for recruiting him but will let them know that he is happy with his decision to attend Georgia Tech. "Recruiting was becoming a bit of a hassle and now that it is over, I feel relieved to know that I am going to the school that the perfect fit for me."
Harland will be recruiting hard for Georgia Tech too. "My first player I am going to talk with is Mikell Lands-Davis. I really want him to come in with us for the this class. I am sure I will be talking with others too."
