Profile - Tre Lamar
Roswell, Georgia four star linebacker Tre Lamar currently has offers from 13 schools. The 2016 recruit made his first full visit to a local school this past week and has plans to make a return visit.
Lamar made the short trip to Georgia Tech last Thursday. It was Tre’s first chance to see the entire campus. "I like what I saw and heard about the school and the football program.”
Seeing that the players at Tech get their degrees was important to Tre. Lamar wants to be a Civil Engineer. “I love how strong their engineering departments are and how well respected a degree from Georgia Tech means in the business world.” Tre likes the Tech ties to local corporations and the chances of landing a good job with those companies.
Tre also liked the feel and the pace of the campus as well as the facilities. “Also, having the city right there is a great option.”
Much of Tre’s time on the visit was spent with Coach Bryan Cook and Coach Saeed Khalif. “They mentioned that if I wanted a high level of academics and football, then Georgia tech is the place for me.”
Lamar also talked with linebackers Coach Andy McCollum. Coach McCollum talked to Tre about playing inside linebacker. “At 6'3"-239, he says I have what it takes to be an intimidating force in the middle.”
Head coach Paul Johnson also met with Tre. “He extended me an offer. He said that he wanted me at Georgia Tech and will be closely watching my last two years at Roswell.”
A return trip to Tech is in the works for Lamar. "I will be going back for the game day experience.” Tre will use that visit to determine exactly where Georgia Tech fits in his recruitment. He will be watching how the coaches work with the players, the fan interaction, and the atmosphere. Clemson will like be the game that Tre visits.
Clemson will also be the next visit for Lamar. "I will be going to Clemson this Saturday to check out the Tigers."
