Profile - Hussein Howe
Jacksonville University Christian (FL) athlete Hussein Howe spent the summer visiting a few of the schools showing interest in him. One of those trips was to Atlanta, with teammate Ke’Shan Pennamon, to visit Georgia Tech.
The one visit that stood out to Howe was the trip to Atlanta. "Coach (Lamar) Owens is recruiting me hard. When Ke'Shan and myself were there on July 19th, we had a blast.” The visit resulted in offers for both players.
The University Christian teammates also got to see former teammate Antonio Simmons. “He told us how great it is there and how much he is loving it.”
Hussein spent time with Coach Owens on the visit. They talked about the football and academic resources Tech has for their student athletes. Coach Owens let Howe know he was ready to take his commitment when Howe was ready. “Tech is at the top of my list. Notre Dame was but now that I've seen Tech, they are up there by themselves."
Tech’s academic reputation, getting to play for championships in the ACC, and the city of Atlanta are some of the reasons Hussein has Tech at the top of his list.
Coach Owens and Tech are looking at Howe at the A Back position in their offense. Howe is currently 5’10”-183 and feels that he’ll get bigger and stronger. "I feel I would be a great fit in their offense."
Now that both Howe and his teammate Pennamon have been offered, the two are talking about playing together in college. "We would love to play football again with Antonio.” The two have looked at Tech’s depth chart and they see that Simmons is in the two deep as a freshman. “If you work hard and do what you're supposed to do, Coach Johnson will play you as a freshman."
Howe plans on returning to Tech in the fall for their games with Clemson and Miami. He will also be at North Carolina for their game with Tech. “I'm glad it worked out that way. I get a chance to see Tech play at home and on the road."
Hussein plans to make a spring decision before his senior year.
