Profile - Meiko Dotson
The visit from Tech Coach Paul Johnson and Coach Lamar Owens sealed the deal for Meiko. “It’s been a while since we’ve talked and talking with Coach Johnson really reminded me of why I committed to Georgia Tech.” Meiko liked Coach Johnson’s straight forward approach. “I know my mom and dad really took to him and loved everything he had to say."
Dotson talked with the coaches about his upcoming official visit. They also discussed Tech’s commitment to Dotson. "He told me no matter what my commitment was secure with Georgia Tech.” Those words were reassuring to Dotson after he had seen other recruits have their scholarships pulled.
The coaches let Meiko know that his position would be sorted out when he arrives at Tech. "The coaches like me as a corner. They said my film shows I have the talent to play that position for their defense.” Dotson hopes to have the same type career as former Tech player Kenny Scott.
Meiko plans to take his official visit in January. The visit will take place either the weekend of the 16th or the end of January. “I have basketball and we’ll schedule a date that doesn't conflict with that."
Even though Meiko is hosting Marshall for an in-home, the visit will not affect his commitment to Tech. The visit was scheduled before Dotson committed to Tech. “Coach Johnson said that as long as I was open and honest with him, he had no problems with the in-home.”
Now that Meiko has firmed up his commitment, he is looking forward to catching up with his sister who attends Clark University in Atlanta. “I know my mom and dad are very happy that both of us will be close together so they can can come see us more often."
