Tre Lamar not ready to rule out anyone yet

During the final week before the dead period, several schools were at Roswell High School (GA) to check on junior middle linebacker Tre Lamar. One of those schools was Georgia Tech.

Profile - Tre Lamar

Georgia Tech Coach Ted Roof was one of the coaches that visited Roswell. Coach Roof spent some time with Lamar’s coach. “My coach said that the Georgia Tech staff is very interested in me.” Lamar was invited by Coach Roof to make a return visit to the Tech campus. “Coach Roof wants me to talk with the staff and see how they are doing as a program."

Tre plans to take that visit. Lamar has watched Tech and has seen how well they are doing. “I can see myself fitting into what they want from my position.” Tre has taken notice that the program is on the upswing. Roswell has been the stop for many coaches. In addition to Tech, Alabama, Clemson, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Wisconsin are some of the schools that have visited. “All of them are looking at me as an inside linebacker."

Lamar hasn’t ruled out any schools but he does have a current top five. Tre doesn’t have a favorite from his top five. “Alabama, Clemson, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Tennessee are the ones that stand out to me." There are a combination of things that put those schools in Tre’s top five. Tre feels that he fits into their defensive scheme better than some of the others and he likes the way they are playing defense. “When I’ve visited these schools, I liked the feel of the campus."

Tre had a chance to watch Tech play in the recent ACCCG. "I thought Georgia Tech played a great game.” Lamar feels that if he chooses Tech that he could make an impact on their defense. It’s a situation I will have to look at over the recruiting process." Top Stories
