Profile - Tyler Cooksey
GAC,Georgia linebacker Tyler Cooksey took his official visit to Georgia Tech this weekend as he heads towards the final leg of his recruiting process, the signing his letter of intent. Cooksey was one of three recruits visiting this weekend. Running back Marcus Marshall and defensive end Dylan Jackson were the two other visitors with Tyler.
Tyler went into the weekend thinking that having only three visitors might not be that much fun as it would be with a larger group. The visit proved to be just the opposite. "I couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend."
The visit seemed like a family reunion to Tyler. "I have no doubt that everyone in our class will fit right in and pick up where the seniors left the team.” Cooksey is looking forward to continuing what last year’s team started.
Cooksey also put on his recruiting hat during the visit. "I tried my hardest to get the other two to come to Georgia Tech, especially Dylan Jackson since we both play defense. Dylan is a class act and a great player.” Tyler felt that Jackson would have been a good addition to the team. “I talked to Marcus some too. He seemed to really enjoy his visit and liked everything Tech has to offer."
Coach Ted Roof let Tyler know that he expects him to be ready to go when he gets to Tech. “I took that to mean that he wants me to push hard for playing time.”
Strength and Conditioning Coach John Sisk also met with Tyler. Once Cooksey signs his LOI, Coach Sisk will be sending him instructions to rehab his shoulder. Tyler had surgery for a separated shoulder.
Tyler feels his class will make some noise when they get to Tech. “I know we lost one recruit but the ones remaining are great guys and they all want to be at Georgia Tech.”
Tech received commits from two recruits last week and Tyler is excited about both. “Dorian Walker will be great player to have on offense and David Curry will be a big player on defense.” Cooksey’s dad and Curry’s dad know each other from their days with the Falcons.
