Sweetwater, Tennessee offensive lineman Bailey Byrum is beginning to see more schools show an interest. Some of those schools have recently visited Sweetwater to check on Byrum. Georgia Tech was one of the latest to visit the rising senior.
On their visits, the interested schools have talked to his coach about having Bailey visit for either their Junior Days or for unofficial visits. Georgia Tech and Wake Forest are two of the schools that have invited Bailey for to come visit their school.
Georgia Tech offensive line coach Mike Sewak made the visit for Tech. Coach Sewak let Bailey’s coach know that Tech was interested in him. “He wants me to come down for a visit so that we can get to know each other better.”
Bailey likes what Tech has to offer. "I love their academics.” Bailey wants to possibly major in engineering. He currently has a 4.3 GPA. Bailey also loves the fact that Tech is a running team. “I feel I’m a good run blocker.”
Byrum became friends last summer with two of the members of Tech’s 2015 signing class. Bailey got to know Nathan Cottrell and Brant Mitchell at a Friday Night Lights camp that they attended together. “They are two good guys and I feel they will have an excellent career at Georgia Tech.”
The 6’7”-315 Byrum plays both offensive guard and tackle for his high school team. “My coach takes advantage of game situations when deciding which position I play.”
Bailey is looking at Clemson, Georgia Tech, and others for possible Junior Day visits. Visits to spring practices are also in the plans for Byrum.
When choosing his school, Bailey will be looking for strong academic schools. He will also be looking for programs that have a strong tradition and a history of graduating their players.
