In spite of missing his sophomore year with stress fractures, Morgan County, GA defensive lineman MJ Webb is beginning to get attention on the recruiting trail. Webb recently visited one of those schools that is showing him attention.

Webb, a 2017 recruit, currently holds offers from Auburn, Michigan, North Carolina State, and Tennessee. The two stress fractures that he suffered were as a result of his body growing faster than his bones could handle. Webb is now ready to resume practice this spring after going through successful surgeries on both legs.

Georgia Tech has really started showing a lot of interest in me.” Webb recently visited Tech. The visit was the second for Webb. “I got to see a side of Georgia Tech that I have never seen."

The previous visit for Webb was for a spring practice and he didn't really get to see much of the Tech campus then. On this visit, Webb got to see all of the football facilities and visit with the coaches. Webb also was shown the academic side of things.

The facilities was one thing that stood out to Webb. “I thought they might be small and kind of cramped but they are great facilities.” Webb thought the weight room was one of the best he’s seen. “The stadium is great and the indoor facility is awesome.”

Webb spent time with Coach Paul Johnson and members of the staff. The coaches feel Webb can put on some good weight on his 6'5"-265 frame. “They want me to keep in touch with them and they will talk with me when they can by NCAA rules. Plus they like the direction I am going in how I play as they told me to keep on doing what I am doing on the field.” Webb is a high target for the Tech 2017 class.

Tech is looking at Webb as a defensive end but they feel if he continues to grow, he could be moved inside. Once they get transcripts from his junior year, they will take a closer look at extending an offer.

"If they offer, they will be one of my top schools.” Webb and teammate Jailyn Ingram have talked about playing at the same school. Ingram was recently given a football offer by Tech in addition to the basketball offer Georgia Tech has extended to him.

Webb has visits lined up this spring to Auburn, Clemson, South Carolina, and Alabama in addition to coming back to Georgia Tech for either a spring practice or spring game visit.
