Profile - Brandon Simon
Don Bosco Prep (NJ) defensive end/linebacker Brandon Simon and his family flew to Atlanta this past weekend to attend the Georgia Tech Junior Day. The academic reputation of Tech and their football success have grabbed the attention of Simon.
Simon described the visit as easily a ten. "It was great and I mean great. I really enjoyed it.”
The campus caught Brandon’s attention. There was also other things that caught his attention. “Georgia Tech has a great academic reputation and the football program is one of the best in the country.” Brandon was also impressed with the facilities.
Brandon spent most of his time with Coach Saeed Khalif. Both are from the same town in New Jersey. “He wants me to come back so that Coach (Paul) Johnson can have a one on one talk with me.” Simon plans on making that return visit to meet with Coach Johnson. Brandon also has family in the Atlanta area too.
Tech is currently looking at Simon as an outside linebacker but they feel if he continues to grow he could become a defensive end. Brandon is currently 6’2”-240.
Simon has a top three of Georgia Tech, Maryland, and Syracuse. Even though he doesn’t currently have a Tech offer, Brandon has them in his top three because of the academics, family feel, and the football program.
The visit also saw Simon spending some time with his recruiting Coach Bryan Cook and defensive line Coach Mike Pelton.
A combination of academics and football will be the focus for Simon in his recruitment. Brandon plans to major in business and will be looking for a strong business school. “I understand that Georgia Tech has a nationally respected business school."
