Jones impressed by intensity and pace

Westlake (GA) linebacker Jarrod Jones is beginning to gain interest. One of the schools showing Jones interest hosted him on March 28th for their Junior Day and a scrimmage. The visit has increased Jarrod’s interest in the school.

Jones made the short trip to Georgia Tech and described the visit as a good one. In addition to watching the scrimmage, Jarrod toured the football facilities and spent some time with Tech strength and conditioning Coach John Sisk. “He told me a lot of good things about Georgia Tech.”

Jones was impressed with how intense and fast paced everything was in the scrimmage. As a linebacker, he paid attention to how that group was coached. “Number 40 PJ Davis really stood out to me.” Jarrod feels that he could see himself playing in Tech’s defense.

Coach “Buzz” Preston invited Jarrod to their practices and also to the spring game. Jones plans to do both. “I am very interested in Georgia Tech.”

Jones understands that not many players make to the NFL and he is looking for a school that has a valued degree. Jarrod sees that in a Tech degree. He also likes the direction that the football program is heading. “Being close to home is something I also like.”

Miami of Ohio, Colorado State, Charlotte, and Southern Miss have all offered Jarrod. Miami of Ohio and Colorado State are two of the schools that Jarrod feels are recruiting him the hardest right now.

When making his decision, Jones will be looking at the aforementioned direction of the program as well as the school’s academics. Jarrod will also be looking for a school that will play freshmen if they earn the playing time. “I would like for the school to be close to home but if the school has all the factors I’m looking for, I’ll consider them.” Top Stories
