Profile - Antonneous Clayton
Dooly County, Georgia defensive end/linebacker Antonneous Clayton had already built an impressive offer list from ACC and SEC schools. With the start of the evaluation period, the 2016 recruit has now added a 13th offer to that list.
Georgia Tech Coach Ted Roof called Clayton’s high school coach to extend that 13th offer. Antonneous was glad to receive the offer. “I’m looking forward to getting up to Georgia Tech to check it out.” The visit will be Clayton’s first time on Tech’s campus.
Coach Roof invited Antonneous to tour the campus and see the football facilities. “I’m exciting about making the trip to Atlanta and seeing the school.” Antonneous knows about Tech’s academic reputation and has heard good things about their facilities. Clayton hopes to be a pre-med major.
With Antonneous's build, a lot of schools are looking at him for either defensive end or outside linebacker. Georgia Tech is looking at Clayton as a defensive end as the coaching staff feels Antonneous's current measurables of 6’4”-218 fit what Tech looks for in a defensive end, big frame to add muscle and weight. Antonneous has that some feeling, “I feel I have the frame to add some good weight and not lose what quickness I have.”
Clayton plans to visit Tech this Saturday. He had already planned to visit Tennessee and will now visit both schools.
Western Kentucky and Florida are the two schools that Clayton feels are recruiting him the hardest at this time. However, he is not ready to name a list of favorite schools. “I wasn’t expecting offers from Alabama and Georgia Tech. I want to see how many offers I get before doing that.”
At this time, Antonneous feels that he won’t be making a decision until sometime closer to signing day, most likely on signing day. “I want as much time as I can get to make the best decision.”
There are several factors that Clayton will be looking at in making his decision. The school’s academic reputation and environment, how he fits in with the style of coaching, and how comfortable he feels at the school will all factor into his decision. Distance will not be a factor. “I want to get away from home and maybe get to a bigger city.”
