The Xpress is off to a 14-2 start and that has brought with it interest from college coaches. The exposure is giving Chris a chance to showcase his talents this summer.

The first offer for Clerkley came from Florida Atlantic and he has since received offers from VCU and Stetson. Another school is starting to show interest in Chris. “Georgia Tech is really starting to show a lot of interest in me.”

Tech is also among the schools that Clerkley feels is showing him the most interest. St. Louis, Georgia State, VCU, and Xavier are also in that category. “Auburn is another school that is showing interest too. Chris says Mississippi State has also been showing interest but with the new staff at Mississippi State, "I’m not sure where I stand with them at this time.”

The schools recruiting Chris feel that he can play the three, four, or the five. “I mainly play the four and five and I cause problems for bigger players because I like to play facing the basket.” At 6’9”-210, Chris doesn’t have a preference which of the three he plays.

The only current visit Chris has planned will be to Georgia State. “I hope to set up others and I want to see as many schools as I can.” Chris’ busy schedule is making it difficult to plan visits.

Clerkley hopes to sign during the early signing period. “We’ll have to see how that plays out.” His relationship with the coaches and finding a school where his position is one of need will be factors in his decision. Chris hopes to major in business or physical therapy.

Chris’ mom will play a big role in his recruitment. “She’s good at judging people and she will want to meet the coaches before I make a decision.” Top Stories
