Moore feels connection

Morgan Park, Illinois point guard Charlie Moore has gotten off to a strong start on the AAU circuit. Moore has been scoring and dishing out assists for the Mac Irvin Fire. His performance has led to interest and an offer from an ACC school.

Georgia Tech Coach Momadou N’Diaye contacted Moore’s coach to let him know that Moore was the type of point guard that Coach Brian Gregory wanted at Tech. “I have a lot of respect for Coach Gregory. He knows how to coach and he is from Chicago like myself. There is a connection there."

Charlie feels that he combines scoring, distributing the ball, and strong defense in his play. “I put myself and the team in the right position to make the right play.” Moore is looking to improve in all those areas. I'm 5'11"- 170 and I have a season to grow and add extra weight in muscle.”

Moore and his brother have already visited Tech and both thought it was a great place. The city of Atlanta was a strong selling point for both of them. “The basketball facilities are second to none.” Charlie described Tech’s new arena as being “off the charts”.

A return visit to Tech is also a possibility for Moore. “We get out of school in June and I'd like to come down sometime during the summer." In addition to the visit to Tech, Charlie has also visited local schools like Bradley and Loyola of Chicago.

With the increased interest in him, Charlie is not sure when he’ll sign. “I'd like to see how many offers I’ll get before I decide.”

Charlie will be looking for a school that lets him play his game. “I want to have a great relationship with the coaches for both myself and my family.”

Distance could also play a role in his recruitment but that won’t eliminate one school. “Georgia Tech will be a major player in my recruitment. I know that for sure.” Top Stories
