Profile - Tyler Simmons
The visit to Georgia Tech included a tour of the football facilities, a meeting with the academic people, and a meeting with the coaches. “Their facilities are extremely nice compared to the others I’ve seen thus far.
Prior to his visit, the coaches at Tech had watched film of Tyler. “They talked to me about what they expect from their receivers.” Coach Paul Johnson showed Tyler stats for some of the former Tech wide receivers that are now playing in the NFL.
Wide receiver is one position Tyler could play if he came to Tech and A-back is another possibility as Simmons noted, “Coach (Lamar) Owens mentioned that he could use a talent like me at A Back.” The Tech coaches like the extra gear that Tyler shows on the field with his speed. The other schools recruiting Tyler like him at either wide receiver or slot back.
Tyler doesn’t have a preference for which of the two positions he plays. “I could see myself at Georgia Tech as an A-Back or a wide receiver. You can put up great numbers at either position.”
Simmons will be returning to Tech this coming weekend to watch his younger brother participate in the Tech camp. “The coaches want me to come back to meet the current players and get an idea of how I would fit in with them.” Tyler also plans to visit Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Georgia. A third trip to Georgia Tech is also in the works. Tyler plans to spend the night with his friend and incoming Tech A Back Omahri Jarrett. “I’m looking forward to those two trips.”
Look for Tyler to make his college decision on August 29th. “Once I make the decision it will be final. I’ll be done, signed, sealed, and delivered."
