DeLaurier not ready to trim list yet

St. Anne’s-Belfield power forward Javin DeLaurier has seen his ranking rise to #38 as a result of his strong showing this spring for Team Loaded. We talked to Javin’s mom C’Ta to find out how things are going with his recruitment.

Profile - Javin DeLaurier

Javin currently has 25 offers. He is not ready to cut that list down nor has he set up any visits for the summer. “Right now we are looking to get through the month of July and then look for schools to visit.” Javin and his mom are looking to make the most of each visit.

C’Ta feels that all the schools recruiting Javin are on equal footing at this time. They are especially looking at schools that are respected in the academic world. “Javin is very impressed that schools from the Ivy League and schools like Georgia Tech and Stanford that are recruiting him.”

Javin likes what basketball can give him as well as a good education. “That part of him is what I’m proud of as a mom.”

The schools recruiting Javin like his ability to play the 3 or the 4 position. He has now grown to 6’9” and wears a size 19 shoe. “Schools have noticed that he is continually improving his skills as he gets older.” His ball handling and his shooting are two areas where Javin has improved.

A signing date for Javin is anyone’s guess. “It will depend on Javin’s relationship with the coaches coming out of his visits.” Finding that comfort level with the coaches, the school, and the education they provide will play a big role in his decision.

C’Ta will leave that decision up to Javin. "Javin is a person that is eager to make others happy. He will seek my advice on matters that he wants me to help.” Top Stories
