Pappoe getting early start to recruiting

Grayson High School (GA) athlete Owen Pappoe is only getting ready to start his freshman season but he’s already receiving interest and offers from schools around the country. Wednesday Pappoe visited one of the schools showing interest.

Owen and his fellow 2019 teammate Kenyatta Watson made the short trip to Atlanta to visit Georgia Tech. The visit was the first to Tech for Owen. He was surprised by what he saw once he got there. “It was much bigger than I expected and a lot greener. It was a really good experience."

The Grayson recruits were hosted by Coach Ted Roof. “He really made us feel at ease and able to enjoy the visit.”

Coach Roof let Owen know that he would love to have him at Tech. Coach Roof also let Owen know that he will take a personal interest in recruiting him. While he didn’t receive an offer on the visit, Coach Roof let Owen know that one would be coming. “He said it was just a matter of time.”

Grayson teammate and Tech commit Chris Martin is already working on Owen to get him to come to Tech. “We’re good friends and he’s always talking up Tech.” Owen also knows former Tech defensive tackle Shawn Green.

Pappoe sees a lot of positive things from Tech. Owen likes what he sees from the engineering schools. Owen also likes the success the football program is experiencing. “You could see it last year and I don’t expect it to change.”

At 6’1”-195, Owen is playing defensive back for Grayson. Owen will most likely not be playing that position in college. “Most of the schools are saying that with my continued growth that I will eventually grow into an outside linebacker."

Pappoe is excited about the offers he’s received thus far. “It shows that my hard work has paid off.” Owen knows that his recruitment has a long ways to go but he feels that Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee are the three schools recruiting him the hardest.

More summer visits are in the works for Owen. Right now a Florida State visit is the only one that he has planned but more are in the works. Top Stories
