Profile - Josh Okogie
His play for CP3 has gained the attention of many schools that previously didn’t know Josh. “I have a lot of schools looking at me and making offers since the start of the AAU season.”
While he enjoys the attention he’s getting on the AAU circuit, Josh also likes playing with his high school teammates. “We won 20 straight games last season before we were knocked out of the state tournament.”
Georgia Tech is one of the schools that has offered Okogie after watching him play for CP3 this spring. Josh received the offer following an unofficial visit to Tech.
The offer didn’t come as a complete surprise to Josh. “They have been showing me a lot of love but I hadn’t really thought about the offer.” Following his visit to Tech three weeks ago, his high school coach Kim Rivers told him that he could probably expect that offer.
The coaches at Tech like how Josh creates and gets to the hoop as a two guard. They feel he is a good fit for their style of play. “With the love they have been showing me, they will be a school that will be high on my list of schools.”
Auburn, East Carolina, Florida, South Alabama, Tennessee, Tulsa, and Vanderbilt are some of the other schools showing interest in Josh. A return visit to Tech as well as visits to South Alabama and Tulsa are being planned following his July AAU schedule. “I just visited Auburn, East Carolina, and Vandy.”
Which of the two signing periods will Josh choose to make his decision? “I want to sign in the early period and have my future locked down.” Josh feels he has a great support system in place to make that decision. “I have everything set up the way I want it to work and I plan on exercising that plan.”
