His AAU team has been the focus for Chuma this summer. “We have the Peach Jam coming up and I’m looking forward to that. Chuma has been working hard in practices and in their games to improve his skills. “My mid-range jumper and rebounding are my strengths.”

The 6’7”-220 Okeke is working on finishing and making sure that he comes out on top when he receives contact. “I need to make better use of my size advantage.”

The latest offers for Chuma have come from Georgia Tech and Auburn. Chuma received a call from Tech Coach Chad Dollar extending the offer. “He said he has been watching my game for some time now and he loves the way I work inside to help create my own shot.” Chuma was also invited to Tech to see the facilities and meet the entire staff. “I’m going there Monday to make a day of it.”

Okeke has already visited Auburn. “They loved my game and want me to visit again.”

Once the AAU season ends in July, Chuma plans to make additional visits. “I have to decide which schools to visit.” Chuma has already visited Clemson and Georgia in addition to the Tech and Auburn visits. Chuma may visit them again this summer or wait until the basketball season.

The offer from Tech has moved them into Chuma’s list of schools that he is showing interest. Chuma likes that Tech is the home school and has a good basketball tradition as well as a great academic reputation.

The chance to play as a freshman is something that Chuma is also looking at when considering Tech. “By the time I need to pick a college, they will need players at my position.”

The Monday visit to Tech will allow Chuma to find out even more about the school.
