Johnson wants to make sure

Ed White (FL) offensive lineman Jordan Johnson gave his verbal commit to Georgia Tech on July 8th. Some of the schools recruiting Johnson have backed off but there are still several schools still actively recruiting him.

Jordan and his Ed White teammates have begun their preseason practice. They start their season on August 28 when they travel to Lakewood. Their goal is to be the best team in Jacksonville and then advance from there. In spite of his verbal to Tech, there is still some activity in Jordan’s recruitment. "To be honest most of the teams backed off once I committed to Georgia Tech. I get some calls now and then but mostly they have backed off."

Is Jordan set on his decision to attend Tech? “I've talked some with my mentor and he said it might be in my best interest to take the five official visits."

When Jordan committed to Tech, he was asked by Coach Paul Johnson not to take any more visits. “Coach Johnson said he would not recruit over my position but he would recruit players along the line that played a different position than the one I play.” Jordan has yet to talk to Coach Johnson about his plans.

Jordan hopes he will still have his scholarship if he takes the visits but he’s not sure. “I just want to take the trips to make sure I made the right choice."

Aside from taking his official visit to Georgia Tech, Jordan would also like to visit South Carolina, Rutgers, Central Florida, and Miami. Jordan has never visited Miami.

Jordan plans to talk to Coach Johnson to let him know what he is thinking and to see what happens. “I hope I can keep my scholarship. My mentor says I owe it to myself to check out these other schools that have kept in contact with me." Top Stories
