Sy settling on official visits

Oak Hill Academy, Virginia power forward Khadim Sy has started taking his official visits. Sy has decided on three of those visits. Sy took the first of those visits this past weekend when he traveled to Purdue.

Purdue is looking at Sy at the power forward position. Academics will be a priority for Khadim. “They have been very informative and have paid attention to what I want.”

Oak Hill Coach Steve Smith is helping Sy set up his visits. “I know two of the other schools that I want to visit.” Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are the two schools that Sy will visit. Coach Smith will set up those dates for Khadim. “I may also visit Kansas State but I’m not sure at this time.”

Coach Brian Gregory has been handling Khadim’s recruitment for Georgia Tech. The two of them have been talking since Khadim was a sophomore. “We have built a good relationship.” Sy has already taken an unofficial visit there and liked what he saw. Sy also keeps in touch with assistant coach Mamadou N’Diaye. “They have a good staff at Georgia Tech.”

Will Khadim sign in the early signing period? “If I find the school that fits what I want, I’ll sign in the early signing period.”

Sy feels his choice must be a great academic school. “I will also look for a coach that is easy to get along with and has my interests in mind.” Sy is looking for a school that is in a great basketball conference and plays a strong schedule. Finally, Khadim will be looking at the depth on the school’s roster.

When his decision time comes along, Sy’s parents will have most of the input in helping with that decision. Coach Smith will also have some input. “They will come on my visits and see what I see and help me make a decision.” Top Stories
