Profile - Quintez Cephus
Cephus made the trip up interstate 75 to watch Georgia Tech play Florida State. “Man, it was unreal. The last play was amazing and electric.” Quintez was glad that Tech won on the last play because his best friend Steve Dolphus recently committed to Tech. “I was happy for him and his future teammates.”
Coach Paul Johnson invited Cephus to the game. The two didn’t talk as long as they wanted as Quintez was late arriving to the game because of traffic issues. Quintez got there in time for Coach Johnson to talk to him on the field. “He told me that even though he was late to my recruitment that he really wanted me to come to Georgia Tech.” Coach Johnson asked Quintez to call him to talk about playing at Tech.
Quintez plans to make that call this week. “I really enjoyed my time up there. I am interested in playing for Georgia Tech.” Cephus has been invited back for a more detailed visit. Quintez plans on making that return visit. An offer from Tech would mean a lot to Quintez. “Just to know that Coach Johnson has the faith in me to help his team win is huge.” The chance to get a degree from Tech is also a big factor for Quintez.
The chance to play with Dolphus would also play a role in Quintez’s recruitment. The two played together at Weaver Middle School. Cephus was the quarterback and Dolphus was a receiver. “We had a great time as teammates. It would be something for us to be teammates again."
Cephus now has to decide whether he wants to play basketball or football. “I am enjoying playing football a lot now and with the visits to Wisconsin and now Georgia Tech, it has made me realize I could be a player for a major college football program." Quintez now has to decide which way to go. The biggest factor in making his college decision has already been answered for Quintez. “All I wanted was to have sports help me get a college education.” Now Quintez will have to decide which sport is the best route for him to take.
Cephus plans to also return to Tech for their game with Georgia.
