Niceville, Florida safety Romeo Finley and two of his teammates traveled to Atlanta last weekend for the Georgia Tech-Florida State game. Tech is one of three schools that Finley is considering for his college choice.

All three of the Niceville teammates described the trip as being great. The finish to the game made the trip even better for Romeo. “It was so much fun that all three of us ran out onto the field to celebrate with the players and fans. I was so caught up with the moment of what just hapened.” Finley described the game ending touchdown as one of the best finishes to a game that you’ll ever see.

Prior to the start of the game, Romeo met with Coach Paul Johnson during the warmups. “He reminded me that a player like myself can come to Georgia Tech and get some early playing time as a defensive back since all four starters are graduating this season.” Finley feels that he’ll have a chance to play as a freshman if he commits to Tech.

The possibility of playing as a freshman is appealing to Finley. Still, Romeo doesn’t have a problem redshirting if he has to or he wouldn’t mind playing on special teams either. “I will say though. it would be nice to see meaningful playing time as a freshman. I’m keeping that in mind."

Finley has three schools that he is considering for his college choice. “Georgia Tech, Florida, and Miami are schools I know that will get an official visit at this time.” Romeo might take all five visits but at this time a visit to Tech in December is the lone visit he has planned. Romeo would like to also take the other visits in December.

The city of Atlanta and the Tech campus stood out to Finley on his visit. “Anything you need to do is right there. My two teammates and I talked about that while we were there.”

Deonte Sheffield, a 2017 running back, was one of the teammates that made the trip with Finley. “He said he could see himself in a backfield like the one at Georgia Tech. He loved every minute of the trip. I think he would make a return trip.”

When it comes to making his college choice, Romeo will be looking for a school that makes him feel at home. Finley already knows what type of degree he can get from each school that he is considering. “Right now everyone is on equal footing. Whichever school makes me feel like I am part of the family is the one that I’ll choose."
