Niceville, Florida 2017 running back Deonte Sheffield and teammates Romeo Finley and Jake Bari traveled to Atlanta last weekend to attend the Georgia Tech-Florida State game. Deonte' paid particular attention to the Tech offense.

The visit allowed Deonte to watch an exciting game, see the football facilities, and talk with the players and coaches. “I know Tech is a great academic school but they also compete at a high level on the football field.” Sheffield also liked having the chance to see the game at night. “It was a beautiful sight to see.”

Deonte' talked with Coach Ray Rychleski on the visit. “He told me he’d be coming down sometime next week to talk to my head coach and to pick up my transcripts in order for them to offer me.”

Tech defensive back John Marvin was one of the current players that talked with Deonte'. “He talked about the great opportunity to play for Tech and get a degree.”

At 5’11”-190 and still growing, Deonte' feels he could play the B Back position in the Tech offense as well as the A Back position. “I love that a running back has a lot of options in their offense.”

Deonte' has three schools that he feels are showing him the most attention. Florida, Louisville, and South Florida keep in constant touch with Sheffield. “Coach Ray says Tech will step up their recruitment.” Deonte is expecting more offers and feels his best days are ahead of him.

A return visit to Tech will not be possible for Deonte' until after the season. Sheffield and his teammates had already planned to attend the Florida-Florida State game which lands on the same day as the Tech-Georgia game. “A Junior Day visit, spring practice or a camp visit would be my best chances to return to Tech for a visit.”

Deonte’s only off season plans, at the present time, will be a visit to the Florida State camp. He also hopes to visit other schools for both Junior Days and camps.

In the meantime, Sheffield and his teammates hope to complete a successful junior season with a state championship. Deonte is putting up big numbers through eight games. “I have 1,450 yards rushing and 17 rushing touchdowns.”
