Profile - Jahaziel Lee
A new school has entered the picture for Ponchatoula, LA athlete Jahaziel Lee. Thursday Lee received an in-home visit from two of their coaches. The visit led to Jahaziel scheduling an official visit.
Georgia Tech Coach Paul Johnson and Coach Bryan Cook visited Jahaziel and invited him to come to Atlanta on the 22nd for an official visit. Lee originally considered visiting on the 29th but felt that the 22nd worked out better for him. "I know after talking with Coach Johnson that I’m excited about taking my official visit there."
The Tech coaches talked to Jahaziel about the position he would play and about the education he would receive. Lee has worked for his dad’s construction company and he hopes to major in Civil Engineering. “Coach Johnson and Coach Cook showed me what type of jobs and how much I could make from those jobs with a Tech degree. That was very impressive.”
The Tech coaches also offered Jahaziel on the visit. “Coach Johnson wanted to give it to me personally.” The coaches let Lee know that he could play either defensive line or offensive tackle. "They said they love me as a defensive lineman but I also have the quickness and agility to be a great offensive tackle.” The position Lee plays will be determined by which one will get him on the field the quickest.
Lee’s explosive first step will be a plus for either of the positions he might play. He also feels that his use of his hands and hip movement are other strengths. Lee will continue to work on getting stronger and improving his 40 time. “I want to get my 40 time to around 4.6 or 4.7.
Jahaziel had previously given his commit to Louisiana-Lafayette. Lee will be looking at a few things on the visit that will determine whether or not he flips to Tech. He’ll be looking at how he gets along with his host as well as the other recruits and players. How Tech prepares him for his future is another consideration. “My dad loved what he heard from the coaches. That sold him on Georgia Tech.”
Georgia Tech quarterback and Lee’s cousin Christian Campbell will host Jahaziel on his visit. The visit on the 22nd will also allow Christian to host his brother Donavaughn when he visits on the 29th. Jahaziel likes the idea of possibly playing on the same team with his cousins. "Man that would be great. It would be awesome to room with those two guys.”
A final decision should come before Lee leaves Atlanta. Lee will take his official visit to Louisiana-Lafayette on the 15th. Tulane is the only other school that Lee is considering. “I feel, at this point, that Georgia Tech has what I like the best. I just need to see if it feels right when I’m there.”
Location will not be an issue for Jahaziel. "I love Atlanta and it is easy to get back home by interstate. I know it is time to start thinking about living on my own. I can't think of a better place than Atlanta to start off."
