Profile - Nick McCloud
Rock Hill, South Carolina defensive back Nick McCloud made the trip down I-85, with his family, to get his first look at Georgia Tech. Following the visit, Nick will be looking at four schools before making his decision.
McCloud had high expectations before the visit and came away from the visit feeling much better than he expected. “I like to rate visits and this one was a solid ten.” Nick was impressed with the campus, facilities and the city of Atlanta.
Georgia Tech safety Corey Griffin hosted Nick on the visit. “I hit it off with him right away.” Griffin answered all of McCloud’s questions giving him a player’s point of view about Tech. “Players will have a different outlook than a coach may have.”
The visit included meeting with the coaches, touring the facilities, and talking with grad assistants. Meeting with strength and conditioning Coach John Sisk was also part of the visit for Nick. “We also talked with the professors about what Tech offers the players as far as support for the players with school work.”
Going into the visit, Nick was told that he would be receiving an offer on the visit. Coach Paul Johnson reinforced that by offering Nick when they met on the visit. “He showed me all the ways I could help Tech and he also showed me how Tech could help me.” The meeting with the coaches left Nick feeling that they really wanted him at Tech. “I left with a great feeling when we headed home.”
The visit opened McCloud’s eyes and committing to Tech crossed his mind. “I told Coach Johnson that I wanted to think about my options. I will make up my mind either this Tuesday or Wednesday.” Nick will call the school this week to let them know. Nick will go public with his choice on signing day at his high school.
Nick has narrowed his list of schools to four. In addition to Tech, North Carolina State, Vanderbilt and UCLA are the other three. “I was going to UCLA this coming weekend but I don’t think I’ll make that visit.” Once Nick makes his decision this week, he will shut down his recruitment.
